Nothing, I mean, NOTHING, will tear me away from the Superbowl this year!

We’re having some friends over to celebrate and that means a few things: Beer, Chili and party decorations!

I’ll be getting some napkins and plates from our party section and some balloons to put around the house.

What I love the most about our plates is that they’re the same price or better than the dollar stores! We recently negotiated with our supplier and they gave us a massive price reduction so that we can compete on price.

As for who I’m rooting for, I’m still undecided. I’m a lions fan at heart, but I just love any excuse to get friends together so I’ll root for whoever is winning.

My Anniversary was on September 12th and my brother is getting married this weekend.

Princess Diana's Bouquet

The announcement of Prince William’s engagement is, of course, front page news. The fact that he proposed with his mother’s sapphire and diamond ring is beyond romantic.

As a florist, I cannot wait to see the wedding next year. The dress, the cake, and of course, the flowers.

Princess Diana’s bouquet was amazing. The construction would have been very time consuming as almost each bloom has to be wire and taped into place.

Baby Hippo Arrangement

I was going through some pictures tonight and I found this one from 2008.

This was created for the birth of a baby boy. I loved it so much that before it left, I had to take a picture!

What a cute way to welcome a new baby to the world! A little stuffed animal for junior and a floral arrangement for the new mom who totally deserves it.

On October 14th, United Way of Chatham-Kent hosted the Harvest Classic Dinner at the Chatham Armoury Banquet Conference Centre.

They called Pizazz! and asked if we would be interested in donating our time and some product to decorate. For United Way? Of course! We love decorating and  in this newly refurbished building it makes it even more exciting!

Our designers, Pat, Patti, and Amy, conceived of this design using the materials provided by United Way, plus some of our own items to glitz it up!

The Decor consisted of pumpkins, gourds, leaves, branches and basically everything fall!

There will be more pictures to come as the event wraps up.

The event has sold almost 300 tickets and is sure to be a huge success. Thanks to everyone who helped us with this event.

Do you put your boss through a lot?

According to Wikipedia Patricia Bays Haroski registered “National Boss’ Day” with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 1958. She was working as a secretary for State Farm Insurance Company in Deerfield, Illinois at the time and chose October 16 because she forgot that the birthday of her boss, who was her father, was actually on the 16th. Four years later in 1962, Illinois Governor Otto Kerner backed Haroski’s registration and officially proclaimed the day.

National Boss’ Day has become an international celebration in recent years and now is observed in countries such as Australia, India and South Africa and very recently Ireland and the UK.

At Pizazz! we celebrate with flowers, balloons, fruit and gourmet baskets and plants.

Boss’s Day falls on a Saturday this year, so you can give a gift to your boss any day this week! I suggest Friday that way he or she can mull over that raise all weekend.

Pumpkin Arrangement

If you don’t want to show up to Grandma’s house empty handed but, like me, are inept in the kitchen, bring flowers to decorate her table instead!

Pat created this ceramic pumpkin filled with fall coloured blooms.  It is the perfect gift for Thanksgiving. It can be used year after year to decorate for the season.

As you can see, Keri was a very laid back bride.

She worked with our designer, Patti, to choose something that would compliment her style. Keri wanted something very simple for her wedding flowers. She chose orange lilies  mixed with white daisies in a hand-tied style bouquet.

I have to admit, Keri was probably the easiest bride I’ve ever encountered!

Their wedding was at Rossini’s restaurant in front of an arch that they rented from us flanked with some cute fall mums.

The Cake Table

Part of it, I’m sure, had to do with the fact that I spent the last three months of my pregnancy in the hottest summer that I can remember. Bring on the 60 degree nights!

But most of it has to do with the colouring of fall. The bright yellows, oranges, reds and burgundies make such a lush pallette that I can’t resist the look.

As florists, we get requests all year long for “bright and cheery summer flowers” or “nice pastel spring tones,” but the season of “send a fall bouquet” only lasts for two months.
